FAQs

How long is the Graduate Programme?
This is a one year Graduate Programme following by a 3-4 week intensive training course in the Irish Distillers Head Office, in Dublin. Following training, the Graduate Programme will continue in the selected market.
Where will I be based?
Graduates are placed in a number of markets across the world and this can differ from year to year. You will be advised of the country in which you will be placed when the offer for the position is made. In the past, graduates have been placed across Europe, USA, South America, South Africa, India and Australia to name a few. You will not be given a choice of where you will be based.
Will I be given responsibility from the start?
Yes. The Jameson Graduate Programme is a challenging year and you will be required to work off your own initiative. During training, you will be required to complete a number of deliverables in order to go to market. As the role varies from market to market, the level of responsibility will be agreed along with objectives by the regional manager and the local brand manager.
What does career progression at Jameson look like?
Graduates who excel in their first year may be offered a second year placement in another market or a position in head office. The Graduate Programme is an excellent start for anyone interested in a career in marketing, brand management, event management or commercial roles such as regional manager. Over 50% of the international commercial team in Irish Distillers are previous graduates. The Graduate Programme is designed to foster and develop individual talent within the company structures.
What sort of personal and professional development should I expect?
The Jameson Graduate Programme provides excellent personal development. By placing the candidate in a market, it encourages independence, confidence and a desire to succeed. The core values of Pernod Ricard (commitment, integrity, conviviality and entrepreneurship) will also be a focal point of development throughout the year. You will develop a range of skills including sales, marketing, presenting, creative, project management and entrepreneurship. Rather than focus on a specific area, the Graduate Programme seeks to develop a rounded individual with a wide skill set.
Will I get to meet the other graduates?
Yes. All graduates will partake in the 3-4 week training together prior to going to market. In some markets, more than one graduate may be placed.
Do you accept paper copy of the application form?
No. Applicants must take part in the online application.
Do you have a work placement or internship programme?
No. The Graduate Programme is open to graduates for the period of one year.
Do I need a specific degree?
Yes. A third level degree in a relevant discipline is important along with demonstrating the qualities required for graduates listed in the Jameson Graduate Profile section. Some experience in sales, promotions or marketing will be of an advantage.
If I am successful in a calendar year, can I defer my place on the Graduate Programme until the following year?
Unfortunately, applications taken are for that calendar year only, and it is not possible to defer your place on the programme. You can however, re-apply the following year for the programme.
Is a driving licence required?
Yes, all graduate roles within Irish Distillers require a full clean driving licence, as roles will require frequent travel within the given markets.
How many graduates will you be taking on in the programme?
Irish Distillers are looking for at least 10 graduates for the Jameson Graduate Programme.
Is a foreign language required?
Naturally, for some foreign language markets, a language will be required. The predominant languages we are looking for are Spanish, French, German and Russian. However, there are many English speaking markets which will not require a foreign language.
How much will I be paid on the Graduate Programme?
As a Jameson graduate, you can expect to receive a competitive remuneration package, including a monthly rent allowance for those moving abroad, and if required, a company car.
Will we be given training prior to commencing our roles?
Yes, all graduates will undertake a 3-4 week intensive training programme in Irish Distillers Head Office in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. This training will encompass all aspects of the role prior to going to market. To find out more visit the training and development section of the site.
